Think Research and HealthCare Plus partner to deliver remote care to patients across Canada
Partnership will provide more than 100,000 family medicine patients with access to Think Research’s VirtualCare platform during COVID-19 and beyond
(Toronto, ON) September 2, 2020 – Think Research, a developer of virtual care technology and clinical decision-support tools today announced a partnership with HealthCare Plus, to provide the network of Toronto-based, digital and traditional healthcare clinics with its VirtualCare solution.
This partnership will provide high-quality, convenient virtual care services through the VirtualCare platform to HealthCare Plus’ existing 100,000 patients. It will also facilitate growth of the clinics’ remote care service across Canada.
Residents of Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia can receive free access to virtual healthcare services through HealthCare Plus with a valid health card. For those who live in other provinces, HealthCare Plus also offers competitive pricing to all Canadians.
HealthCare Plus’ virtual care service is currently available to access through Well.ca as well as through its own website.
“As a physician, it has been incredible to see how virtual care has become an effective, safe and secure option for many Canadians during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Parminder Singh, CEO of HealthCare Plus. “By combining our highest-quality physician consults with the patient-friendly VirtualCare app, we can continue to enhance that experience.”
Demand for remote care has spiked in use during the pandemic. A recent U.S. survey by McKinsey and Co. shows that nearly half of patients reported using a telehealth solution in the last few months, compared to just 11 per cent of patients having used remote care in 2019.
Think Research’s network of clinicians using VirtualCare has grown by 510 per cent since January 2020.
“During this pandemic, virtual visits have emerged as an option that’s allowing people to continue accessing the care they need, when they need it, while also keeping safe and reducing the risk of spreading COVID-19,” says Sachin Aggarwal, CEO of Think Research. “We’re pleased to partner with HealthCare Plus to ensure that people can get appropriate support for all of their health care needs, from their own care providers, now and in the future.”
